The One Thing You Have To Do in the Cayman Islands

Grand Cayman and The Cayman Islands boast some oft he most beautiful tropical scenery in the world with endless activities to enjoy.  But the BEST thing to do in the Cayman Islands is visit Stingray City.  Imagine yourself waist-deep in impossibly perfect, turquoise water surrounded by dozens of friendly stingrays.  This once in a lifetime brush with sea life at Stingray City is must and will be the highlight of your Cayman trip.  To start, Stingray City and Stingray City Sandbar are two different locations but are collectively referred to as ‘Stingray City’.

Tip:  Stingray City sandbar is only 2 to 4 feet deep and where to go for the shallow water experience (has more tourists though).  Stingray City is better for snorkeling and diving.

The area is home to a whole fleet of southern stingrays who congregate near the shore. The stingrays began gathering in the area decades ago when fisherman used to clean fish on the shallow sand bars, and soon the stingrays began to associate the sound of a boat motor with food.  They actually approach you immediately, and boat operators bring food for you to feed them (which they love!).

Tip:  The stingrays are extremely friendly and love to be touched.  Just be careful when you walk not to step on them.
