India is a huge country with many diverse regions and choosing where to visit can be daunting. Below the major areas are described and the best places in India to visit within those regions are listed.
This is located below India but is part of the country, so make sure visit this place if you go to the south of India. These are a bunch of beautiful islands with really blue waters. You can see the simple lifestyle of the people here who are not well connected to the mainland. Lots of great resorts to stay here.
Similar to Andaman Islands but less commercialized. Beautiful nonetheless.
Parties and beaches and flea markets. Out and out fun place. Spend at least a week exlporing the north and south of Goa. Its unlike any other party place.
North East of India
If you want to see a completely different and unexplored area of India, then head to the north east. Given its geography, the place is not well connected and this makes it one of those few regions where nature is raw and untouched by human civilization. The live music scene is very good here.

This state is the quintessential India you see everywhere. Visit the following places:
- Delhi: The capital city of India has a lot to offer in terms of cultural expereinces and monuments fromt he mughal empire. All the political landmarks are here and its full of museums and art galleries that are worth checking out.
- Agra: Visit this place for the world famous Taj Mahal and various other mughal empire monuments. Located in Uttar Pradesh, 3 hours drive from Delhi.
- Amritsar: The Golden Temple is located here which is a revered temple for the Sikh religion in India. Also close by is the Wagah border (India -Pakistan border) where a ceremony is held every evening between the soldiers of both sides and you can see the ceremony as well
Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kashmir
If you are interested in trekking and exploring the mountains and hills then head to Himachal Pradesh and Jammu Kasmir.
