New Years Eve in South Beach, Miami

There is only one place to properly celebrate New Year’s in Miami, and that of course is on South Beach. South Beach is an international playground offering non-stop nightlife, sandy shores, unique architecture and plenty of eye candy.  This Miami hot spot is popular year round, but New Year’s takes it to another level.
The epicenter of all the action can be found on Ocean Drive, with lively bars and clubs to the west, and a long white sandy beach to the east.  Walk up and down Ocean Drive on New Year’s Eve and be overwhelmed by club hoppers, party goers, street performers, and a swarm of out-of-towners trying to take it all in!  If you are planning to spend your NYE in one of the many clubs and bars on the main strip, you will want to purchase your ticket well in advance.  Tickets usually run anywhere from $80-$400 for general admission to the major clubs, which includes a premium open bar until a specific time.  Bar hoppers seem to have no problem carrying drinks around, so you are able to come in and out of the bars at will.  This comes in handy when you are interested in hanging at on the beach, or people watching on the strip, and need to periodically refill your drink.  If the bar/club scene on Ocean Drive is too rich for you, there is always the option of checking out the many places a few blocks west, which has plenty of places to choose from.
Make sure not to miss the fireworks over South beach at midnight!  A beautiful fireworks display rocks the skies over the beach at the stroke of midnight, with thousands of tipsy revelers pausing to take in the moment. The party will rage up and down Ocean drive well until the wee hours of the morning.  It is wise to arrange your lodging and transportation home well in advance as to avoid any problems.
